Denmark plans to deliver Ceasar artillery systems and first Leopard 1 tanks to Ukraine by summer
Acting Defense Minister Troels Lund Poulsen said that Denmark plans to supply Ceasar artillery systems to Ukraine next month, and the first Leopard 1 tanks by summer
He made the announcement at a joint briefing with Ukraine's Defense Minister Oleksii Reznikov.
The official noted that they plan to provide Ukraine with about 100 Leopard 1 tanks and further consider the possibility of transferring Leopard 2.
“We hope we will deliver Caesar artillery systems to Ukraine next month. They are currently on training grounds in Denmark. Now about the Leopard 1 tanks. Two months ago, Denmark signed an agreement with Germany. We hope we will start delivering the tanks by the summer. Looking ahead six months, it will be possible to deliver about 100 Leopard 1 tanks to Ukraine. And we will be able to discuss the delivering of Leopard 2. By the way, there are not so many tanks in Denmark. We will consider other possible ways of transmission,” Poulsen said.
Moreover, foreign-trained crews will arrive with weapons. Reznikov emphasized that Ukrainian soldiers are already undergoing training.
“Our gunners are already training to work on Caesar. Also, soon you will hear how tanks roar with a Danish accent in Ukraine,” noted the Ukrainian Defense Minister.
It is noted that he also offered foreign specialists who are willing and able to maintain this equipment to come and work in Ukraine. Reznikov emphasized that this also applies to pilots who know how to fly F-16s and are ready to take part in the war as a foreign legion.
