This is stated on the website of the Czech Ministry of Defense.
"Foreign media reported that "the Czech Republic and Slovakia are allegedly ready to give up Leopard 2 tanks in favor of Ukraine." This information is not true. No one has asked or offered the Czech Republic to provide the tanks, which, according to a preliminary agreement, it will receive from Germany as compensation for helping Ukraine," the ministry said.
The ministry's press service added that such theses were not discussed at the Ramstein meeting, where the issues of military support for Ukraine by the allies were discussed.
- On January 20, the German newspaper FAZ reported that the Czech Republic and Slovakia were to receive Leopard 2 tanks from Germany, but at the meeting in Ramstein, they could have offered to deliver the equipment to Ukraine instead.
