Croatia to provide its ports for Ukrainian grain exports
On July 31, Ukraine and Croatia agreed to use Croatian ports on the Danube and the Adriatic Sea to transport Ukrainian grain
This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said that the countries will now work to build the most efficient routes to these ports and make the most of the opportunity.
"Every contribution to unblocking exports, every open door is a real, effective contribution to the world's food security. I thank Croatia for its constructive assistance," Kuleba said.
In addition, he and Croatian Foreign Minister Gordan Grlić Radman discussed Croatia's military support. The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry clarified that there are specific agreements that will be implemented soon.
"I would like to note separately that the assistance provided by Croatia is very solid, if we calculate its share in the total military budget of this country," Kuleba said.
The ministers also discussed preparations for the International Donor Conference on Mine Action in Ukraine to be held in Zagreb in October and the implementation of President Zelenskyy's Peace Formula.
"The Croatian side has confirmed its readiness to participate in the implementation of a number of points of the Peace Formula: food security, energy security, restoring respect for the UN Charter and the territorial integrity of Ukraine, achieving justice for Russian crimes and preventing ecocide. We are very grateful," the Ukrainian minister said.
The Government of Croatia donated €1 million to the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) today to help farmers and food producers resume work in regions most affected by explosive remnants of war.
The €1 million contribution is Croatia’s largest ever donation to the UN World Food Programme. The funds will support a collaborative project led jointly by the UN World Food Programme and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), in conjunction with WFP’s partner for mine action, the Fondation suisse de déminage (FSD).
The work is already underway in Kharkivska oblast with plans to expand to Mykolaivska and Khersonska oblasts. The project is designed and implemented in close coordination with the Government of Ukraine as well as local authorities to ensure complementarity in action and directly support the Government’s demining efforts.
Earlier, Radman tweeted about his visit to Ukraine.
The Croatian Foreign Minister has already visited the town of Hostomel in Kyiv region.
"Started my visit to Ukraine in Hostomel. In partnership with UNICEF Croatia procured 50 generators for schools and hospitals across the country, including the Veselka kindergarten," Radman wrote.
The official believes that it is extremely important to ensure the uninterrupted operation of key children's facilities, so together with the charitable organization Caritas, the Croatian government donated equipment for a kindergarten.
