Connecting Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant to Russian system will cause sanctions Rosatom is not ready for - Energodar mayor Orlov
Serious sanctions await Rosatom if they connect Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant (NPP) to the Russian energy system.
Energodar mayor Dmytro Orlov shared on Espreso.
"As for the technical possibility of transfer, it probably exists, but it is a rather complicated procedure and many technical solutions have to be implemented there. It is clear that it is almost impossible in the territory where hostilities are actually taking place. Plus the technical component, which concerns personnel and joining Rosatom, because the company understands that such a nuclear plant in the occupied territory will certainly lead to a package of sanctions for which Rosatom is not ready, and therefore the issue remains open," he said.
Orlov told how the Zaporizhya NPP works now.
"Today, the station is part of the energy system of Ukraine, which works synchronously with the EU and the staff serves Ukrainian in accordance with the legislation," the mayor concluded.
