Colonel Grant outlines potential targets within Russia
He suggested that Ukraine could target civilian airfields in Russia, leading to a halt in airline operations and causing economic disruption within the Russian Federation
British Colonel Glen Grant shared this perspective during an interview with Espreso.
He stressed the importance of Ukraine's strategic approach when targeting sites within Russia. Simply launching a drone to destroy a single plane wouldn't significantly impact the ongoing conflict. Russia possesses numerous unused aircraft.
"More crucial would be actions that prompt the shutdown of civilian airfields. We've witnessed this strategy before. Attacking civilian airfields, no matter their location, could force all airlines to suspend operations. This would profoundly affect Russia. By targeting just three to four key locations near our reachable borders using drones, the entire international support system for flights to and from Russia would experience a drastic shift. The impact would be enormous. Hence, our focus should center on determining the outcome we aim to achieve," the colonel underscored.
Glen Grant elaborated that while drone strikes on tall buildings in Moscow might terrify Russians, they could also inflame their aggression towards Ukrainians. Thus, it becomes more pertinent to disrupt the business and lifestyle of Russian citizens. This strategy carries more weight than dismantling a few minor targets.
