Chinese Foreign Minister says "situation will get out of control" unless Russia and Ukraine start negotiations
Chinese Foreign Minister Qin Gang has warned that Russia's war against Ukraine will escalate if negotiations do not begin immediately
Reuters reported the information.
According to Qin Gang, the "conflict" between Russia and Ukraine has reached a critical point, so the parties should start peace talks as soon as possible.
"The Ukrainian crisis has reached a critical moment. Either the fire will stop, peace will be restored, embarking on the right path of political settlement, or oil will be added to the fire, the crisis will worsen, the situation will get out of control," Qin Gang said at the annual press conference of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Beijing.
He called on Russia and Ukraine to maintain calm, reason and dialogue.
"All legitimate security concerns of the parties concerned must be respected, thus achieving long-term security in Europe," Qin Gang said.
The minister also added that the war in Ukraine is allegedly being stirred up by a third party.
"The Ukraine crisis seems to be driven by an invisible hand pushing for the protraction and escalation of the conflict," Qin Gang said.
