Child death toll rises to 165 since start of full-scale war in Ukraine - juvenile prosecutors

This was announced by the Office of the Prosecutor General in a Telegram with reference to juvenile prosecutors.

"More than 431 children suffered in Ukraine as a result of the armed aggression of the Russian Federation. According to official data from juvenile prosecutors, as of the morning of April 5, 2022, 165 children were killed and 266 got injuries of varying severity", the report says.

At the same time, juvenile prosecutors note that these figures are not final, since work is underway to establish such facts in places of active hostilities and in temporarily occupied territories. In particular, in the city of Mariupol, in certain territories of the Kyiv, Chernihiv and Luhansk regions.

Children suffered the most in Kyiv region - 77, Donetsk region - 78, Kharkiv region - 61, Chernihiv region - 49, Mykolaiv region - 35, Luhansk region - 31, Zaporizhzhya region - 22, Kherson region - 29, capital city - 16, Sumy region - 16, Zhytomyr region - 15.

Thus, juvenile prosecutors recorded the death of a child from shelling by invaders in Mykolaiv on April 4, as well as the death of a child from shelling in Bucha in the Kyiv region.

"It became known that during the occupation of the village of Vorzel, Kyiv region, the military of the aggressor country threw a smoke bomb into the basement of one of the houses where a 14-year-old child and a woman were, after which they fired. As a result the child died on the spot, and the mother two days later in the same basement", the statement said.

869 educational institutions were damaged due to bombing and shelling. 83 were destroyed to the ground.
