A Gazelle stuffed with boxes of money was found near Prigozhin's office in St Petersburg. The total amount of money found was about 4 billion rubles – almost $50 million
This was reported by the Russian media.
According to the reports, during the search of the Trezini Hotel in St Petersburg, which is believed to be Yevgeny Prigozhin's office, the officers became interested in a white Gazelle that did not belong to anyone.
They began to check it for explosives. When the car was opened, they saw boxes full of five-thousand-ruble bills.
It is noted that after counting the money, it turned out that the amount reached 4 billion rubles in cash.
Prigozhin said the money – found in cardboard boxes in a vehicle near his office by the FSB security service – was to cover salaries and other expenses for his Wagner fighters.
