Bundestag's defense committee head declares need to transfer Marder IFVs to Ukraine
The head of the defense committee of the German Bundestag, Marie-Agnes Strack-Zimmermann, has declared the need to transfer Marder infantry fighting vehicles (IFV) to Ukraine
A politician of the Free Democratic Party, which is part of the ruling coalition, told Süddeutsche Zeitung about this.
“We should start redeploying the Marder infantry fighting vehicles to Ukraine now and immediately begin training to operate it... We definitely need to move now,” Strack-Zimmermann said.
She called "positive" the decision of France, which plans to send AMX-10 RC tanks equipped with a 105 mm cannon to Ukraine.
“It is important that our Western partners are again the first to take the step they could have expected from us,” the deputy reprimanded.
She noted that the Marder IVSs are in sufficient quantity in the warehouses of the Bundeswehr, as well as the ammunition for them.
On December 14, 2022, it became known that France and Italy approved the supply of SAMP-T air defense systems to Ukraine.
