British organization will assist Ukraine in demining energy facilities
The British non-governmental organization Mines Advisory Group (MAG) has entered into a memorandum of cooperation to assist in demining energy facilities in Ukraine
Ukraine’s Ministry of Energy reported the information.
"Mine clearance of energy facilities is a very important thing. Unfortunately, the resumption of energy supply is hampered by total mining of the premises, especially in the de-occupied territories," said the head of the Ministry, Herman Halushchenko.
The memorandum provides for cooperation in creating conditions for the safe restoration of Ukraine's critical energy infrastructure by clearing energy facilities, their sites, and adjacent territories of explosive objects and parts thereof that pose a threat to human life and health, and ensuring the proper safe operation of energy facilities.
The Mines Advisory Group is also expected to provide technical assistance and advisory support for the successful conduct of mine risk awareness activities, technical and non-technical survey and demining of territories, and to help create a safe environment for the socio-economic development of regions affected by the hostilities.

On August 13, Ukraine’s Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said that Ukrenergo, state-owned energy company of Ukraine, had repaired almost 80% of the main power grids, and that high-voltage substations had been restored to pre-war levels. According to him, Ukraine is implementing a multi-level defense strategy to safeguard energy facilities.
