British intelligence explains why Putin's address has failed to achieve desired effect
In his address to the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin did not propose any practical steps that would help Russia break the deadlock
The British Ministry of Defense reports this on Twitter.
British intelligence notes that on February 21, Russian President Putin made his first State of the Nation speech since 2021. He made it clear that he intends to continue with the war in Ukraine. The Russian dictator also characterized Western elites as having "become a symbol of total unprincipled lies" and suspended Russia from the Strategic Arms Treaty.
Putin continued the belligerent tone he has adopted in his speeches over the past six months, but did not reveal any practical measures to help Russia break the deadlock it is facing on the battlefield in Ukraine.
"Putin continues to present a contradictory narrative of existential struggle while insisting everything in Russia is fine and going to plan. This renders both messages ineffective," the British intelligence concluded.
