British Challenger 2 tanks to arrive in Ukraine by summer - Defense Minister Wallace
The main Challenger 2 battle tanks, which the UK promised to give to Ukraine to counter the Russian aggressor, are expected to arrive no later than summer
This was stated by British Defense Secretary Ben Wallace, Sky News reports.
He recalled that the government had agreed to send 14 Challenger 2 tanks to Ukraine.
When asked in the House of Commons when they would arrive in Ukraine, Wallace said: "It'll be this side of the summer, or May - it'll be probably towards Easter time."
He explained that for security reasons he could not announce a schedule for training the Ukrainian military on using the tanks. The minister noted that the soldiers will first be taught how to operate a tank individually, and then instructors will move on to teaching them how to fight in formation.
This year Britain will celebrate Easter on April 9.
