Britain is preparing to recognize Wagner Group as terrorist organization
Great Britain is planning a decision to recognize Russian private military company Wagner as a terrorist organization
According to The Telegraph, the British Home Office is working on this issue. Discussion is currently at an early stage.
If British authorities take this step, Wagner's PMC membership will be recognized as a crime, attendance at all events of the group and public wearing of its symbols will be prohibited. In addition, this initiative may affect the ability of PMCs to raise money through UK financial institutions.
According to The Telegraph, plans to designate Wagner's PMC as a terrorist organization have been under discussion since January 2023, but were shelved after the British Foreign Office expressed concern about implications of such a decision. It is expected that this issue will be raised again in the Foreign Office on February 6.
The British government has not yet confirmed or denied the newspaper's information.
