Brazilian President Lula da Silva refuses to visit Putin
Brazilian President Lula da Silva declined Putin's invitation to visit Russia and participate in the International Economic Forum in St. Petersburg
He wrote about this on Twitter.
"Just spoke on the phone with Russian President Vladimir Putin. I thanked him for the invitation to attend the International Economic Forum in St. Petersburg and said that I cannot go to Russia now, but reaffirmed the readiness of Brazil, as well as India, Indonesia and China, to communicate with both sides of the conflict to achieve peace," Lula da Silva said.
As a reminder, on 16 April, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva accused Vladimir Putin and Volodymyr Zelenskyy of "not taking steps towards reconciliation" and said that it was necessary to create an analogue of the G20 to end the war in Ukraine.
The Brazilian leader also stressed that the US should stop "encouraging war" in Ukraine and "start talking about peace".
