The head of European diplomacy, Josep Borrell, says that European navies should patrol the Taiwan Strait to ensure freedom of navigation, because it is an economically important region for the EU
DW writes about this, referring to Borrell's comment for the French newspaper Journal du Dimanche.
The diplomat emphasized that Taiwan is important for the European Union in economic, commercial and technological terms.
Therefore, Borrel called on European naval forces to patrol the Taiwan Strait to demonstrate Europe's commitment to freedom of navigation “in this extremely important region.”
