Biden chooses Kyiv for meeting with Zelenskyy instead of Lviv, Polish border - media

US President Joe Biden was offered a meeting with his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelenskyy on the border with Poland or in Lviv, but chose Kyiv

This was reported by Rolling Stone.

“Biden was presented with an array of plans for this Ukraine trip... One idea called for a meeting between Biden and Zelenskyy at an undisclosed location at the Polish-Ukrainian border,” the publication noted, citing the senior White House official with direct knowledge of the matter.

There was also a proposal to hold the meeting in Lviv, which has also been hit by Russian missiles, but which remains relatively safe compared to the heavy fighting on the eastern front.

However, Biden himself chose to visit the Ukrainian capital.

“Ultimately, Biden selected Kyiv, a city that stands as a symbolic gesture of Ukraine’s resolve after Russian forces tried and failed to capture the capital city early in the war last year,” the media reported.

The publication notes that the American leader planned his visit to Kyiv to demonstrate solidarity with the Ukrainian people, who are entering the second year of a large-scale war with Russia.
