President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy made the announcement on Twitter.
"Historic vote in Belgium’s House of Representatives: one more state recognized the Holodomor of 1932-1933 as genocide of the Ukrainian people!" the Ukrainian leader wrote.
Zelenskyy thanked Belgium for this important decision, "for this deeply symbolic step today."
On November 4, 2022, the upper house of the Irish parliament recognized the Holodomor of the Ukrainian people as genocide. On the same day, the Parliament of Moldova adopted a declaration recognizing the Holodomor of 1932-1933 as genocide of the Ukrainian people.
On November 26, 2022, US President Joe Biden called for the commemoration of the victims of the Holodomor committed by Russia on the territory of Ukraine.
On November 30, 2022, the German Bundestag passed a resolution recognizing the Holodomor as genocide of the Ukrainian people.
On December 14, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that the Czech Senate had also recognized the Holodomor as genocide of the Ukrainian people.
