Belgium freezes over EUR 50.5 billion of Russian assets.
Since February 24, the Belgian government has frozen Russian assets worth EUR 50.5 billion
De Morgen shared the news.
These funds belong to 1,129 individuals and 110 companies from the Russian Federation. As the spokesperson of the Ministry of Finance of Belgium, Francis Adeins, said, the funds were frozen in connection with the sanctions imposed against Russia due to its aggression against Ukraine.
He added that for some Russian individuals and legal entities, sanctions have been in effect since 2014 - since the beginning of the temporary occupation of Crimea, however, for most of the individuals on the list, restrictive measures were introduced in February of this year after the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation into Ukraine.
However, Adeins did not specify which sanctioned persons or companies had the largest sums frozen.
