Belarusian troops' offensive will make them terrorists, it will be big historical mistake – Zelenskyy
There is no high probability and risk of an attack from Belarus now, as 80% of the country's residents don't want to fight against Ukraine
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said this during a speech at the Munich Security Conference, broadcast by Espreso TV.
“Today, there is no high probability and no high risk of another attack from Belarus. It's difficult to get Belarusian soldiers to join Russian forces, to unite them. Belarusians do not want to fight against Ukraine, nor does the majority of society. We have analytical figures – 80%. It is very difficult to get support in Belarus for this process, and it will be difficult for the Russians to drag them in,” he said.
However, according to Zelenskyy, Russia will try to do so.
“This will be a big historical mistake for Belarus. It's one thing when aircraft or missiles were flying from airfields. It's one thing when these are territories controlled by the Russian Federation. But it's another thing when you deliberately go on the offensive and join Russian terrorists. At that moment, you become a terrorist and historically make Belarus a part of Putin's terrorist regime and the war of aggression. At the same time, you will become the subject of a future loss, a trial, a tribunal, and compensation. This will be a big mistake, and we believe that they do not have enough forces. Anyone who comes to our land will definitely not return. This is not intimidation, I am telling it like it is, we are defending ourselves, we are not attacking anyone,” the president summarized.
