Belarus starts mobilization exercises in region bordering Ukraine

The Belarusian military have begun mobilization exercises in the Gomel region, which borders Ukraine.

The Belarusian Defense Ministry shared the update.

The training started on June 22 and will last until July 1. The Belarusian Defense Ministry said their goal is to check the readiness of military commissariats to perform their tasks.

"During the exercises, issues related to the replenishment of military commissariats by drafting conscripts will be worked out," the Belarusian defense ministry said.

They added that special operations units would also take part in the exercises to create a near-real-life scenario.

The ministry claims that the exercises are planned and conducted annually. In 2021, they took place in the Mogilev region.
