Bakhmut is key to recapture of Ukrainian territory towards Sievierodonetsk, Lysychansk - military expert Chernyk
Military expert Petro Chernyk says Bakhmut constrains Russia’s operational and strategic forces
He shared his opinions on Espreso TV’s Verdict with Serhiy Rudenko programme.
"Bakhmut is a strategic hill and it fulfills its main task. Bakhmut restrains the enemy's operational and strategic forces. A huge amount of enemy manpower and equipment is destroyed in Bakhmut. We definitely need to hold Bakhmut. It is the key to the potential recapture of our territory towards Sievierodonetsk and Lysychansk," explained Chernyk.
According to the military expert, the demarcation line is in the zone of so-called strategic balance.
"At the moment, the enemy is in a state of operational pressure and its own offensives. But the number of enemy attacks per day has significantly decreased compared to March. The enemy is slowly getting exhausted. However, it will take some time before the roles are reversed, when we will be part of the attacking side," noted Chernyk.
