It was reported by the AFU Ground Forces comander, Colonel-General Oleksandr Syrskyi.
"We prepared Bakhmut and the area for defense in advance. This area has a peculiar landscape. The city is surrounded by hills, and it functions as an obstacle for the enemy," he explained.
"A system of well-engineered barriers in combination with the natural landscape turned this area into a real impregnable fortress; more than one thousand enemies died by its walls," added Syrskyi.
He emphasized that the AFU take every opportunity to "destroy the best enemy units."

On February 3, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy assured that the Ukrainian Armed Forces will not leave Bakhmut.
