Australia imposes sanctions against Kabaeva and Putin's cousin, nephews
On July 1, Australia has expanded sanctions against the Russian president's inner circle: 16 people, including ex-gymnast Alina Kabaeva, as well as Vladimir Putin's cousin and nephews.
The Australian government shared the news on its website.
Vladimir Putin's cousin Igor Putin, nephews Mykhailo and Roman Putin were included in the sanctions list. Restrictions were also imposed on Alina Kabaeva, a former gymnast and the head of the board of the largest private media company in Russia, National Media Group. She is credited with close relations with the Russian president.
Also, sanctions were introduced against the Russian Minister of Construction, Irek Faizullin, the Minister of Transport, Vitaly Saveliev, and the Minister of Agrarian Industry, Dmitriy Patrushev.
The restrictions also affected a close friend of Vladimir Putin, Oleksandr Plekhov, the son of one of the president's friends, Yuriy Shamalov.
The sanctions list included the RTI Systems concern president Yevgeny Novitskyi, the Rosgeology director general Sergei Gorkov, the children's ombudsman Maria Lvova-Belova, the Russia bank chairman of the board Mikhail Klishin.
Australia also imposed sanctions against Russian oligarchs Igor Kesaev and Grigory Berozkin, as well as against developer God Nisanov.
