Vitaliy Volodymyrovych Kotsovskyi was born on February 8, 1998, and lived in Khodoriv, Lviv region.

Following his heart's call to the military, in 2019 he signed a contract with the 128th Mountain Assault Brigade Zakarpattia. Even before the start of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, he was sent to study at the Ivan Chernyakhovsky National Defense University of Ukraine in Kyiv," the statement reads.
During his service, he was awarded the Order of Bohdan Khmelnytskyi of the third degree, an incentive award - a medal as a lieutenant, For Special Service of the third degree, the Cossack Cross award of the joint forces commander of the second degree, and the Battalion Honour Award.
The hero was killed on November 3 as a result of a rocket attack near the village of Zarichne, Zaporizhzhia region. He has parents and two brothers, ATO participants who are also defending their homeland.
The fallen defender will be honored in his hometown on the Heavenly Hundred Heroes Alley on Wednesday, November 8, at noon. The funeral ceremony will be held on November 9 at 1:00 p.m.
