Attack on 128th Brigade killed Major Vitaliy Kotsovskyi from Lviv region

A 25-year-old major, deputy commander of the Mountain Assault Battalion of the 128th Brigade, Vitaliy Kotsovskyi, was killed in a Russian missile strike near the village of Zarichne in Zaporizhzhia

This was reported by the Khodoriv city territorial community.

Vitaliy Volodymyrovych Kotsovskyi was born on February 8, 1998, and lived in Khodoriv, Lviv region.

"After graduating from Khodoriv secondary school No. 3 named after the Hero of Ukraine Roman Tochyn, he continued his studies at the Petro Sahaidachny National Army Academy. Following his heart's call to the military, in 2019 he signed a contract with the 128th Mountain Assault Brigade Zakarpattia. Even before the start of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, he was sent to study at the Ivan Chernyakhovsky National Defense University of Ukraine in Kyiv," the statement reads.

During his service, he was awarded the Order of Bohdan Khmelnytskyi of the third degree, an incentive award - a medal as a lieutenant, For Special Service of the third degree, the Cossack Cross award of the joint forces commander of the second degree, and the Battalion Honour Award.

The hero was killed on November 3 as a result of a rocket attack near the village of Zarichne, Zaporizhzhia region. He has parents and two brothers, ATO participants who are also defending their homeland.

The fallen defender will be honored in his hometown on the Heavenly Hundred Heroes Alley on Wednesday, November 8, at noon. The funeral ceremony will be held on November 9 at 1:00 p.m.

Death of soldiers of the 128th Brigade in Zaporizhzhia - what is known

On Friday, November 3, Russian terrorists launched a rocket attack on the personnel of the 128th separate Mountain Assault Brigade of the Transcarpathian region, killing the soldiers and injuring local residents of varying degrees of severity.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reacted to the deaths of soldiers of the 128th separate Mountain Assault Transcarpathian Brigade. 

Later, it was reported that 19 soldiers of the 128th Brigade were killed in a missile strike in Zaporizhzhia region. The State Bureau of Investigation registered a criminal investigation.
