Artillery system, 14 tanks and 930 soldiers: Russian losses in one day of war in Ukraine

This is stated in the report of the Ukrainian Armed Forces General Staff.

The total combat losses of the Russian Federation from February 24, 2022 to December 16, 2023 are approximately:

• personnel - about 344,820 (+930) people,

• armored combat vehicles - 10,667 (+13),
• artillery systems - 8,100 (+1),
• MLRS - 920 (+0),
• air defense systems - 605 (+0),
• aircraft - 324 (+0),

• UAVs of operational and tactical level - 6,238 (+12),
• cruise missiles - 1,609 (+1),
• ships/boats - 22 (+0),
• submarines - 1 (+0),
• motor vehicles and fuel tankers - 10,710 (+11),
• special equipment - 1,190 (+1).

Situation at the frontline: Ukrainian forces repelled 72 Russia’s attacks in Donetsk region

According to the General Staff, in the area of the northern Ukrainian border with Belarus, the operational situation has not changed.

In the northeastern border area, the Russian army maintains a military presence in the border areas, conducts active sabotage activities to prevent the deployment of Ukrainian troops to threatened areas, and increases the density of minefields along the state border in the Belgorod region.

In the area of responsibility of the Khortytsia operational-strategic group in the Kupyansk direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled 9 Russian attacks near Synkivka, Kharkiv region.

In the Lyman direction, Ukraine's troops repelled 5 hostile attacks east of Terny, Yampolivka, Donetsk region, and Makiivka, Luhansk region.

In the Bakhmut direction, Ukrainian forces repelled 18 Russian attacks near 4 settlements in the Donetsk region. The Ukrainian defense forces continue to inflict losses in manpower and equipment on the Russian army and are consolidating their positions.

In the Avdiivka direction, in the area of responsibility of the Tavria operational-strategic group, the Russian militants keep trying to encircle Avdiivka. Ukraine's soldiers are holding the line, inflicting significant losses on their enemy. Thus, the Ukrainian Defense Forces successfully repelled 20 Russian attacks east of Novobakhmutivka and Avdiivka and another 14 attacks east of Stepove, south of Sieverne and Pervomaiske in Donetsk region.

In the Marinka direction, the Defense Forces are holding back the Russian enemy in the areas of Krasnohorivka, Marinka and Novomykhailivka in Donetsk. Ukrainian defenders have successfully repelled 13 attacks there.

In the Shakhtarsk direction, Ukrainian troops repelled two invaders' attacks near Staromayorsk, Donetsk region.

In the Zaporizhzhia direction, the Defense Forces repelled 8 Russian attacks west of Novopokrovka and south of Robotyne in the Zaporizhzhia region.

At the same time, in the Melitopol direction, the Ukrainian Defense Forces continue to actively inflict losses in manpower and equipment on the occupation forces, depleting the Russian enemy along the entire front line.

In the area of responsibility of the Odesa operational-strategic group in the Kherson direction, Ukrainian defenders continue to hold their positions on the left bank of the Dnipro River, conducting counter-battery combat, and inflicting fire on Russia's rear.

Russia attacked Ukraine with Shahed drones: Ukraine hit 11 areas of Russian troops' concentration

In total, theRussian forces launched 2 missile and 23 air strikes, fired 40 times from multiple launch rocket systems at the positions of Ukrainian troops and populated areas. Unfortunately, Russian terrorist attacks have resulted in deaths and injuries among the civilian population. Private houses and other civilian infrastructure were destroyed and damaged.

At night, the Russian aggressors once again attacked Ukraine using 31 Shahed-136/131 UAVs. Air defense forces destroyed 30 attack drones.

2 localities in Chernihiv region, 1 in Sumy region and 4 in Donetsk region were subjected to air strikes.

More than 130 settlements in Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Kherson and Mykolaiv regions came under artillery fire.

Over the past day, the aviation of the Defense Forces carried out 7 strikes on the areas of Russia's personnel, weapons and military equipment concentration. Also, over the past day, air defense destroyed 1 Kh-59 guided missile.

Missile units hit 4 areas of personnel, weapons and military equipment concentration and 2 Russian ammunition depots.

• In the evening and on the night of December 16, Russian terrorists launched Shahed drones from the southern and northern directions. Kyiv was the main target of the attack, air defense was activated, there were no casualties or damage.
