Aren’t Hungarians interested in buying oil at $60 instead of $80?
The high price for the purchase of Russian oil is in the interests of Orbán's ruling clique
The Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs Péter Szijjártó, who is also in charge of foreign trade, did not think twice and said the plain truth: “During the negotiations on the oil price cap, we fought hard for Hungary's interests, and as a result we succeeded: Hungary was released from the oil price cap.”
“The high price for the purchase of oil is in the interests of Orbán's ruling clique, which identifies itself with the whole of Hungary. The higher the price, the bigger kickback the Russians will give”
The question arises - aren’t Hungarians interested in buying oil at $60 instead of $80? If the answer seems obvious to you, you are not wrong.
But there is a different logic here. The high price for the purchase of oil is in the interests of Orbán's ruling clique, which identifies itself with all of Hungary. The higher the price, the bigger kickback the Russians will give. Everything is simple. That's why Szijjártó got the feeling of future dividends.
