Alternative peace plans are against Ukraine's interests – analyst Burkovsky
The emergence of many peace plans is not in Ukraine's interest, as it allows Russia to appeal to these alternatives and avoid international isolation
Petro Burkovsky, Executive Director of the Ilko Kucheriv Democratic Initiatives Foundation, shared his opinion with Espreso TV.
"There should be only one peace plan at the international level. Russia is interested in having a Chinese peace plan, a Hungarian peace plan, a peace plan promoted by the Vatican with the presidents of Colombia and Argentina. When you sit at the table and you have several peace plans, you have a menu and a choice – you can collect points from different plans and promote your interests," he said.
Burkovsky emphasized that when there is only one peace plan on the table, the Ukrainian one, Russia is either forced to accept it or is forced to push back and face greater international isolation.
"The emergence of more peace plans is against our interests, because it allows Russia to appeal to these alternatives and avoid international isolation," the analyst concluded.
