All obstacles to Ukraine's accession to EU should disappear this year, Zelenskyy says
Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Ursula von der Leyen submitted a report based on the results of the second part of the questionnaire previously provided by Ukraine. So now, based on it, Ukraine will begin the process of bringing legislation into compliance with EU norms
The President of Ukraine stated this at a joint meeting of Ukrainian Government and European Commission, Ukrinform reports.
"This year should become the time when there will not be a single obstacle left for the start of negotiations on Ukraine's full membership in the EU. Ukraine will do its part, must do and will do it," Zelenskyy said.
Based on the report received by Ukraine, the government will conduct "comprehensive self-assessment" in order to change Ukrainian legislation in accordance with EU norms. For this purpose, a National Plan for Approaching EU Legislation will be created, Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Ukraine Olha Stefanyshyna will be responsible for coordination.
Zelenskyy expressed hope to receive an assessment of Ukraine's implementation of seven recommendations in the spring and noted that EU and Ukraine are already uniting.
"Ukraine and the European Union are no longer separate subjects of European life. Our values are common. Our fate is common. Our enemy is common, our defense is common. And therefore, our lives are united," the president said.

On February 2, joint consultations of the Ukrainian government with the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, and 15 European commissioners, who arrived in Kyiv with her, began.
