Air Defense shoots down 11 Russian missiles and 2 drones over Kyiv: there are casualties

On the morning of April 28, fragments of a Russian missile hit a high-rise building in Ukrainka, Kyiv region, injuring a child

It is noted that the attack was carried out by strategic aviation aircraft. In the airspace of Ukraine’s capital, 11 cruise missiles and two UAVs, whose type is still being determined, were destroyed.

The falling debris in the Obolon district of Kyiv disrupted a local power line and damaged the road surface. No casualties or damage to residential buildings or infrastructure were reported.

"I thank the Air Defense Forces for their service and protection of Kyiv! Once again, I appeal to Kyiv residents and will repeat these words constantly: do not neglect air raid warnings! Take care of yourselves and your families," said Serhiy Popko, Head of the Kyiv City Air Force.

Ukraine's Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko also said that two people were injured in the town of Ukrainka, Kyiv region. Rescuers and police are working at the scene and will provide assistance as soon as possible.

Ruslan Kravchenko, the head of the Kyiv Regional Military Administration, provided details about the Russian attack on Ukrainka. He noted that there was a child among the two victims - a 13-year-old girl was taken to the Okhmatdyt children's hospital.

Kravchenko also added that the fragments of a Russian missile hit a multi-story building. As a result, apartments on the fifth and sixth floors were damaged. The fire has been localized.

Earlier, the Kyiv Military Administration reported on the work of air defense.

At about 4:40 am, residents of Kyiv and the suburbs heard explosions. 

"Air defense is working! Stay calm! Stay in shelters until the all-clear signal is given!" the city military administration wrote.

The regional military administration also reported the operation of air defense.

The air alert in Kyiv and the region was announced at 4:02 am and ended at 06:14 am.

On the night of April 27-28, residents of Poltava, Cherkasy, Dnipro and Mykolaiv regions also heard explosions. In Uman, Cherkasy region, a Russian missile hit a high-rise building, 5 people were injured. A young woman and a 3-year-old child died as a result of a Russian strike on Dnipro.
