U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance said that Ukraine should sit down at the negotiating table to resume U.S. military assistance. At the same time, he added that Washington, Europe, and Kyiv cannot continue the war indefinitely

This was reported by CNN.

“We want the Ukrainians to have a sovereign and independent country. We think the Ukrainian troops have fought very bravely, but we’re at a point here where neither Europe nor the United States nor the Ukrainians can continue this war indefinitely,” Vance said.

“So it’s important that everybody come to the table. And the President is trying to send a very explicit message, the Ukrainians have got to come to the table and start negotiating with President Trump for the mineral deal.”

Vance is convinced that a framework agreement on Ukrainian rare earth minerals is possible.

“I think the President is still committed to the mineral deal. I think we’ve heard some positive things, but not yet, of course, a signature from our friends in Ukraine,” he said.

At the same time, the U.S. vice president accused Ukrainians of being unwilling to “negotiate in good faith.” He also claims that the United States was not treated fairly when it came to helping Kyiv.

“It’s really ridiculous, and frankly, an insult to the American people, that the Europeans are getting a better deal than the American people,” he said.

U.S. aid suspension: what is known

American media reported that Donald Trump ordered the suspension of all ongoing military aid to Ukraine until he is convinced that the country's leaders “demonstrate a genuine commitment to peace.”

All U.S. military equipment, including weapons that had not yet reached Ukraine, is either being transported via aircraft and ships or waiting in transit zones in Poland, where it will remain.

On March 4, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk confirmed that the U.S. had halted the supply of military shipments to Ukraine.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal stated: “We are calmly continuing our diplomatic efforts through all available channels with the U.S., the U.S. Congress, the Trump administration, and President Trump himself.”

On March 4, the UK government reassured Ukraine of its continued support after the United States stopped providing military aid to Kyiv.

"We remain absolutely committed to securing a lasting peace in Ukraine and are engaging with key allies in support of this effort. It is the right thing to do, and is in our interest to do so," stated Downing Street.
