U.S. to resume GLSDB bomb deliveries to Ukraine as ATACMS stocks dwindle
The United States has expressed its willingness to resume the supply of long-range GLSDB bombs to Ukraine after upgrading them to better counter Russian interference
Reuters reported the information, citing its own sources.
The U.S. plans to resume supplying Ukraine with GLSDB long-range bombs following reports that the stockpile of similar-range ATACMS munitions has been depleted.
GLSDBs were purchased through the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative during the tenure of former President Joe Biden.
In recent weeks, 19 bombs have been tested to assess the effectiveness of the upgrades. According to the report, some modifications involved strengthening the internal connections within the weapon to enhance its durability. The upgrades were implemented due to issues with Russian electronic warfare (EW), which had hindered the bombs from hitting their targets.
Reports indicate that the use of GLSDBs on the front lines is possible soon, as supplies are already in Europe.
- On March 13, the AP agency reported that the Ukrainian side acknowledged the depletion of the American long-range ATACMS missiles previously in service with the Defense Forces.
