US Congress inaction delivers Russian military success – President Biden
In a telephone conversation with the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, US President Joe Biden stated that the Ukrainian military was forced to withdraw from Avdiivka due to ammunition shortage. He blamed it on the US Congress
The White House website published the statement.
"This morning, Ukraine’s military was forced to withdraw from Avdiivka after Ukrainian soldiers had to ration ammunition due to dwindling supplies as a result of congressional inaction, resulting in Russia’s first notable gains in months," the message said.
President Biden called on the Congress to immediately pass a draft law on additional funding for national security to replenish the reserves of Ukrainian forces.
The US president confirmed the strong bipartisan support in the country's government and among the American people for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine.
He also called for costs to be imposed on the Russian government to hold it accountable for its actions.
