U.S. announces $1 billion military aid package for Ukraine: what it includes

On April 24, the United States announced a new $1 billion military aid package for Ukraine and disclosed its contents

After U.S. President Joe Biden signed a bill to help Ukraine, Israel, and Taiwan, the United States immediately announced security support.

As part of the aid package, Ukraine will receive:

• 155mm artillery rounds, including High Explosive and Dual Purpose Improved Conventional Munitions rounds;
• 105mm artillery rounds;  
• 60mm mortar rounds;
• Bradley Infantry Fighting Vehicles;
• Mine Resistant Ambush Protected Vehicles (MRAPs);
• High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicles (HMMWVs);
• Logistics support vehicles;
• Tactical vehicles to tow and haul equipment;
• Tube-Launched, Optically-Tracked, Wire-Guided (TOW) missiles;
• Javelin and AT-4 anti-armor systems;
• Precision aerial munitions; 
• Airfield support equipment;
• Anti-armor mines;
• Claymore anti-personnel munitions;
• Demolitions munitions for obstacle clearing;
• Night vision devices;
• Spare parts, field equipment, training munitions, maintenance, and other ancillary equipment.

“This package will surge munitions, weapons, and equipment forward to support Ukraine's ability to defend its front lines, protect its cities, and counter Russia's continued attacks,” the statement says.

• On April 20, 2024, the US House of Representatives held a historic vote to approve a $95 billion aid package for Ukraine, Israel, and Taiwan.
• On April 24, US President Joe Biden signed a package of bills to provide $95 billion in aid to Ukraine, Israel, and Taiwan and to confiscate Russian assets under a shortened procedure, which had been approved by the Senate earlier in the day.
