Ukraine to receive all promised F-16s by end of 2025 — Norway's Defense Ministry
Norway plans to complete the transfer of F-16 fighter jets to the Ukrainian Armed Forces during 2025. Some of the aircraft have already been supplied
Defense Minister Tore O. Sandvik told NRK and confirmed that the transfer is proceeding according to the previously approved schedule.
He recalled that in July 2024, the Norwegian government officially announced its intention to transfer F-16 combat aircraft to Ukraine. Some of them have already been delivered, but the exact number is not disclosed for operational security reasons.
"The transfer of Norwegian F-16s is going according to plan. However, due to security concerns and after consultations with the Ukrainian side, we are not disclosing details about the number of aircraft transferred," Sandvik said.
In addition, last year Norway increased its support for the Air Force of Ukraine by 1.3 billion Norwegian kroner. According to the minister, these funds are aimed at strengthening Ukraine's air defense within the framework of the international Air Defense Coalition.
"Thanks to this contribution, Norway is helping to strengthen Ukraine's defense capabilities in the air, acting in close coordination with other partners," the official added.
- Belgium plans to provide Ukraine with two F-16 fighter jets for spare parts by the end of this year, and two more aircraft next year.
