Ukraine to produce Starlink alternative in partnership with Sweden
On April 10, the Ukrainian company Stetman signed an agreement with Sweden's Requtech on the licensed serial production of satellite terminals for the OneWeb (LEO) and Intelsat (GEO) platforms
Stetman CEO Dmytro Stetsenko shared the information.
“Today, a landmark event took place — Stetman (Ukraine) signed an agreement with Requtech (Sweden) on the licensed serial production of advanced satellite terminals for OneWeb (LEO) and Intelsat (GEO) platforms in Ukraine,” he wrote on Facebook.
These are flat terminals, operating similarly to the Starlink car systems from Starmod and Intellian OneWeb, which use satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO).
"Thanks to this, Ukraine will not only have alternatives to Starlink — to which we are sincerely grateful for its timely technological support and with which we will continue to cooperate — but also its own satellite equipment production," Stetsenko stated.
He added that this will primarily meet domestic needs, and in the future will open the way for exports to strengthen the European satellite infrastructure.
- On April 3, Poland provided another 5,000 Starlink terminals to Ukraine, which will be used to provide stable communications in medical facilities, schools, and critical infrastructure.
- On April 4, reports emerged that Germany is financing Ukraine's access to a satellite Internet service owned by the French company Eutelsat, which is an alternative to Elon Musk's SpaceX Starlink.
