Ukraine may receive U.S. air defense systems as part of minerals deal — Zelenskyy

He said this while speaking with journalists on Saturday, according to Interfax-Ukraine.  

Zelenskyy assessed that the minerals agreement concluded with the United States "is currently beneficial for both sides."  

According to the president, the agreement will allow Ukraine to protect future U.S. investments, "to protect, in particular, with air defense our land and our people."

"And that is why we are ready for air defense systems to be a contribution to this. I told him (Trump – Ed.) about the quantity – he told me that they will work on it, these are not free things. And I would like to have the opportunity for us to have access to purchasing American weapons," Zelenskyy added.  

• The Ukrainian side has repeatedly appealed to the United States to provide it with air defense systems, and to the Trump administration, it proposed purchasing the systems with the help of European countries.
