UK, Norway pledge $580 million in military aid to Ukraine, including FPV drones, radars, mines
The UK has announced a new joint defense aid package for Ukraine with Norway worth £450 million (approximately $580 million), which will be funded from existing budget resources
Bloomberg reported the information, citing the United Kingdom's Defense Ministry.
According to the announcement, the funds will be directed toward the expedited delivery of FPV drones designed to target and drop explosives on Russian military positions. The package also includes funding for the purchase of radar systems, anti-tank mines, as well as the repair and maintenance of vehicles and other equipment.
The FPV drones, which will be supplied by both British and Ukrainian manufacturers, have proven their effectiveness in combat. According to the UK Ministry of Defense, these drones are responsible for 60-70% of the damage to Russian equipment in Ukraine.
UK Defense Secretary John Healey, addressing the participants of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group gathered on Friday, emphasized the importance of this cooperation. He stated that the support of allies is crucial to strengthening Ukraine's position and applying pressure on the Kremlin to end the aggression.
"We cannot jeopardize peace by forgetting the war, which is why today’s major package will surge support to Ukraine’s front-line fight," Healey stressed.
- The European Union will allocate €9 billion to strengthen Ukraine’s defense capability by the end of 2025.
