Slovakia to provide Ukraine with €500,000 in energy equipment
On October 17, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha met Slovak Foreign Minister Juraj Blanár in Košice to discuss deepening political and security cooperation between the two countries
Sybiha reported the information on social media.
The meeting was part of the third round of intergovernmental consultations led by Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko and Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico.
“We discussed key topics of our bilateral agenda and ways to deepen political dialogue. I thanked Slovakia for its support of Ukraine's sovereignty, territorial integrity, and EU accession—together with Moldova and without decoupling,” the statement said.
Blanár announced that Slovakia would supply Ukraine with a new package of energy equipment worth €500,000, in response to recent Russian attacks on Ukrainian energy infrastructure. Slovakia will also contribute €300,000 for constructing shelters in schools in frontline regions.
The ministers discussed defense cooperation, including strengthening Ukraine through the SAFE mechanism and expanding the PURL initiative, as well as the upcoming 19th package of sanctions and the use of frozen Russian assets to support Ukraine financially.
Sybiha also announced plans to open a Ukrainian Consulate General in Prešov by year’s end to improve consular services for Ukrainians in eastern Slovakia.
