'On schedule': Swedish Defense Ministry on delivery of surveillance aircraft to Ukraine

The delivery of Swedish ASC 890 airborne early warning and control (AEW&C) aircraft to Ukraine, announced last May, is on track. It’ll happen once upgrades to the F-16 fighter jets are complete

Delfi reported the information, citing the Swedish Defense Ministry.

“The delivery timeline for the ASC 890 is linked to when certain modifications to the F-16 fighter jets are ready,” the Swedish Defense Ministry stated.

They added that there is no delay in transferring the AEW&C aircraft to Ukraine.

“We are working according to the initial schedule, but for security reasons, we will not disclose when and where certain actions have taken or will take place,” the ministry emphasized.

At the end of May 2024, Sweden announced its 16th aid package to Ukraine worth €1.16 billion. It included ASC 890 aircraft equipped with radar surveillance and targeting capabilities.
