Norway pledges $7 billion in aid to Ukraine this year
Defense Minister Rustem Umerov met with his Norwegian counterpart, Tore Onshus Sandvik, in Brussels, after which he announced that Oslo would allocate $7 billion to help Ukraine in 2025
He wrote about this on Telegram.
"I had an important conversation with the Minister of Defense of Norway, Tore Onshus Sandvik. Norway is among the leaders in terms of aid to Ukraine: in 2025, it will allocate $7 billion. We discussed how to use these resources most effectively," Umerov stated.
According to him, among the priorities is the development of Ukrainian-Norwegian projects in the field of UAVs. In particular, they include: the purchase of drones manufactured in Ukraine, financing the production of domestic models, as well as joint work according to the Danish model or in other formats.
"I presented our technological solutions that are already working on the battlefield to my Norwegian colleague. We have the potential to scale them up together with partners — and Norway can play an important role here," Umerov summarized.
On March 6, the Norwegian parliament decided to increase support for Ukraine to 85 billion Norwegian kroner (almost $8 billion) in 2025. The authorities consider this a contribution to peace and stability in Europe.
