He made this statement while summarizing the results of the second day of the Peace Summit in Switzerland on June 16.

Zelenskyy thanked everyone who participated in the first Peace Summit for working together towards peace.

“In response to Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, we are not only prioritizing the protection of human lives but also engaging in comprehensive diplomacy,” Zelenskyy stated.

According to him, 101 states and organizations have joined this process, which he called “a great success for Ukraine.” He emphasized that Ukraine's goal is for all countries to join in.

"Previous political leaders left us the UN Charter as a foundation for global cooperation. We will pass on an effective mechanism for implementing the Charter and the communiqué adopted at this summit to future generations. This document reflects our intentions and is open for signing by all who respect the UN Charter, " he stated.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy stressed the importance of summit participants supporting Ukraine's territorial integrity, stating that without it there would be no peace. He recalled that the first summit had focused on three key challenges: nuclear energy safety, food security, and the release of all prisoners of war.

"After the summit, we have agreed to continue our efforts at a technical level, with advisors and ministers leading or co-leading special meetings among countries. Each step toward a fair peace has aroused interest from specific summit participants and other nations not yet involved but keen on peace. We have agreed to launch post-summit groups to work on specific ideas for restoring security," Zelenskyy noted.

He also invited all countries to join these groups and share their ideas and proposals. The president emphasized that both the first and second Peace Summits need to focus on the details of achieving peace during wartime.

"We don't have time for prolonged processes. Moving towards peace requires quick action. Preparations will take months, not years. Once the peace action plan is ready, it will pave the way to the 2nd Peace Summit and ultimately bring an end to this war for a just and lasting peace," Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized.

He also mentioned that several countries have already expressed interest in hosting the 2nd Peace Summit, and negotiations with them are underway.

  • Following the second plenary session of the Global Peace Summit in Switzerland on June 16, a joint communiqué was signed by 80 participating countries and 4 international organizations.
