Japan to transfer $3.3 billion of frozen Russian assets to Ukraine
Japan has reached a final agreement on the transfer of $3.3 billion to Ukraine from frozen Russian assets
This was reported by the Japanese media.
It is noted that this amount is more than 6% of the total support of $50 billion. Japan is in a hurry to complete the development of an aid implementation system by the end of the year.
The G7 is expected to discuss and reach a joint agreement at the meeting of G20 finance ministers and central bank governors to be held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in late July.
It is reported that the United States and the European Union, which play a leading role in the use of Russia's frozen assets, will each contribute $20 billion out of $50 billion. The remaining $10 billion will be shared by Japan, the United Kingdom, and Canada.
The G7 decided that assistance to Ukraine, which is suffering from Russian aggression, will be provided in the form of a loan, and investment income from frozen Russian assets will be used to repay the loan.
