Green transition, gas projects strengthen Ukraine-Poland partnership in global competition
Ukraine's Deputy Energy Minister Mykola Kolisnyk emphasized that Ukraine values solidarity and partnership with the Polish government
He stated at the Via Carpatia 2024 forum during an interview on Espreso TV.
"Currently, there is the issue of equipment availability. Europe is undergoing a 'green transition,' which has already led to a high demand for electrical equipment from all manufacturers. On top of this, we are adding additional needs from Ukraine. As a result, most manufacturers are already booked for a couple of years in advance. Therefore, obtaining equipment quickly is practically impossible," explained Kolisnyk.
According to the Deputy Minister of Energy of Ukraine, the most effective form of assistance for Ukraine is when energy companies from Poland, the Baltic states, and other partner countries provide equipment they have in stock - that is, what is ready and can be delivered quickly.
"Unfortunately, Ukraine doesn't have the luxury of waiting a year and a half for equipment to be produced. We have weeks to accelerate deliveries," Kolisnyk emphasized.
The Deputy Minister of Energy of Ukraine added that the strategic partnership between Ukraine and Poland is crucial today. Both countries share a similar gas and electricity infrastructure, as well as common goals for the "green transition." They also share objectives for the development of installed capacity, as the "green transition" implies a significant increase in electricity consumption.
"Natural gas is a transitional fuel. Therefore, the development and formation of joint projects on a regional basis make our countries partners in global competition. We see that other Western European countries are also uniting to compete based on different principles. Solidarity and partnership with the Polish government are important for us. We are ready to discuss the practical implementation, increasing the capacity of existing projects, and launching new projects that will provide us with stability and resilience in the future," Kolisnyk concluded.
