This was announced by the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, on X.
She noted that the European Commission is allocating this aid package against the backdrop of Russia's relentless attacks on Ukraine's energy infrastructure.
"Temperatures will soon go down, so we are stepping up our humanitarian aid to Ukrainians in need. With a new €40 million package for repair works, electricity, heating and shelter," the statement said.
- The Swedish government has approved an additional 44 million euros (500 million Swedish kronor) to support Ukraine's energy supply and heating.
