EU Military Committee pledges 2 million artillery shells for Ukraine by end of 2025
Espreso correspondent Tetiana Vysotska says that the European Union is continuing to implement a plan to increase military aid to Ukraine
She said this on the Espreso TV channel.
Three important issues were discussed today at the meeting of the European Union Military Committee (EUMC).
"The first issue is 'Strategy-2030,' that is, the European Union's readiness strategy to repel any external attack by 2030. The EU aims to be 100% ready for such a scenario. The second issue is the defense capability of the European Union. The third issue is assistance to Ukraine. In particular, the prospects for further support were discussed," Vysotska noted.
According to the correspondent, the head of the European Union Military Committee, Robert Brieger, stated that assistance to Ukraine will continue, and the EU intends to significantly increase the number of munitions supplied to the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
"I asked how many munitions Ukraine can receive in the near future? Robert Brieger replied that, as a result of today's meeting, Ukraine will receive 2 million large-caliber shells by the end of this year. This is exactly the type of ammunition that Ukraine needs most. He also noted that this amount is almost double the volume of supplies last year.
Thus, the European Union continues to implement Kaja Kallas' plan to increase military aid to Ukraine," Vysotska added.
- Ukroboronprom has signed a Memorandum of Cooperation with the German concern Rheinmetall regarding the possibility of creating a joint venture for the production of artillery shells.
