Estonia buys €2M SUVs for Russia border patrol, sends old vehicles to Ukraine

The Estonian Police and Border Guard Board purchased 20 modern SUVs to patrol the control line on the border with Russia and participate in operations of the European Border and Coast Guard Agency Frontex

ERR reported the information. 

The cost of one SUV with additional equipment is about €100,000. Ninety percent of the funding came from the EU budget.

Some of the old SUVs still fit for use will be transferred to Ukraine.

According to officials, improved road infrastructure on the eastern border allowed focusing on technological upgrades in the new vehicles.

  • On June 13, Estonia delivered a batch of artillery ammunition to Ukraine.
