The Latvian-led drone coalition has raised almost €500 million for Ukraine to purchase UAVs
Latvian Defense Minister Andris Sprūds wrote this on X.
"Almost €500 million is the amount of money raised for drones by a coalition of drones initiated by Latvia," he said.
Sprūds informed that the Netherlands and Denmark have announced a joint purchase of UAVs for Ukraine totaling €400 million. Canada is funding the initiative with €70 million. Lithuania has also allocated €3 million and Latvia €10 million for the purchase of drones.
"And this is just the beginning. We are actively negotiating with other countries of the drone coalition," the minister assured.
- On February 21, it was reported that Ukraine's Ministry of Defense was working to get at least 20 countries to join the drone coalition. Currently, the coalition has 9 partner countries: co-leaders the United Kingdom and Latvia, member states Denmark, Estonia, Lithuania, Canada, the Netherlands, Germany, and Sweden.
- On April 24, Ukraine's Defense Ministry established the Coalition Support Office to ensure sustainable and systematic management of military assistance provided by partner countries.
