AFU repel 44 attacks, destroy 11 control points, 9 Russian artillery units at firing positions

The General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces shared the information in a morning report on May 12.

Russian troops lead an offensive in Lyman, Bakhmut, Avdiivka and Marinka directions.  

The fiercest fighting continues for the towns of Bakhmut and Marinka.

Ukrainian troops repelled 44 attacks. 

Ukrainian Armed Forces hit 11 Russian control points, 9 artillery units at firing positions and strike 33 personnel concentrations

The aviation of the Ukrainian Defense Forces launched 14 strikes on concentrations of Russian personnel and military equipment over the day. 

Ukrainian missile and artillery units struck 11 control points, 19 manpower concentrations, 1 ammunition depot, 1 fuel and lubricants depot, 9 artillery units at firing positions, 1 air defense facility and 2 other important targets.

In addition, 9 Russian UAVs of various types were destroyed. 

Russia launches 6 missile, 59 air strikes and 95 MLRS attacks on Ukraine 

On May 11, Russian forces launched 6 missile attacks, in particular on the cities of Sloviansk, Kostiantynivka and Zaporizhzhia. 

In addition, 59 Russian air strikes and 95 MLRS attacks on Ukrainian troops' positions and populated areas were recorded. There were victims among the civilian population, private homes and other civilian infrastructure were destroyed and damaged.

The threat of further missile and air strikes across Ukraine remains high, as Russia continues to use terror tactics.

Situation in different Ukrainian regions is as follows

On the northern border with Belarus, no signs of the formation of offensive groups were detected. 

Russia continues to use the territory and material and technical base of Belarus for training and combat coordination of conscripted units of the Russian Armed Forces. These units are then engaged in combat operations on the territory of Ukraine.

On the northeastern border with Russia, Russian forces launched air strikes on 1 settlement in the Chernihiv region and 3 more in the Sumy region over the past day. 

They also launched mortar and artillery attacks on 2 settlements in the Chernihiv region, 10 in the Sumy region, and 13 in the Kharkiv region.

In the Kupyansk direction, Russian troops did not launch any assaults over the past day. However, they launched an air strike near Pishchane settlement. 

Nine settlements in the Kharkiv region and another in the Luhansk region came under artillery and mortar fire.

In the Lyman direction, Russian troops launched unsuccessful offensives near Serebryanske forestry. 

They also launched air strikes near 4 settlements.

Two settlements in the Luhansk region and 7 in the Donetsk region came under artillery fire.

In the Bakhmut direction, Russian forces lead an offensive. Fighting continues in the town of Bakhmut. 

Over the past day, Russian forces launched unsuccessful assaults in the direction of Stupochky. They launched air strikes on 4 settlements. 

Thirteen settlements in the Donetsk region suffered from Russian shelling.

In the Avdiivka direction, Russian troops launched unsuccessful offensives near Avdiivka.

They fired at 5 settlements in the Donetsk region.

In the Marinka direction, Ukrainian defense forces repelled numerous attacks near Marinka. Russian attacks also took place near 3 more settlements in the Donetsk region.

In the Shakhtarsk direction, Russian forces launched attacks near Novomykhailivka during the day, but were unsuccessful. 

They also launched air strikes near Vuhledar and Prechystivka and shelled 6 settlements.

In Zaporizhzhia and Kherson directions, Russian troops are on the defensive. 

They launched air strikes near 3 settlements. Two more settlements in the Donetsk region, 7 in the Zaporizhzhia region, 1 in the Dnipropetrovsk region, 7 more in the Kherson region and the city of Kherson were shelled.

• On Thursday, May 11, more than 80 explosions occurred in the Sumy region as a result of Russian shelling. A bridge on a local road in the Znob-Novhorodske community was destroyed.
