AFU repel 40 Russian attacks, including 15 in Bakhmut direction – General Staff
Ukraine's Armed Forces repelled 40 Russian attacks over the last day, Bakhmut remains hotspot of the fighting
The Ukrainian Armed Forces' General Staff reported this.
“The enemy continues to focus its main efforts on conducting offensive operations in the Lyman, Bakhmut, Avdiivka and Marinka directions – more than 40 attacks were repelled over the past day. The settlements of Bakhmut, Avdiivka and Marinka remain at the epicenter of the fighting,” the military wrote.
Near the state Ukrainian border with Russia and Belarus, the situation hasn't changed significantly, and no enemy offensive groups have been detected.
At the same time, the Russian Federation continued shelling the entire border line, using mortars and artillery: 3 settlements in the Chernihiv region, 4 more in the Sumy region, as well as 13 towns and villages in the Kharkiv region were attacked.
The situation in other Ukrainian regions
“In the Bakhmut direction, the Russian forces are trying to take full control of the city of Bakhmut and continue to storm it. They conducted unsuccessful offensives near Bohdanivka and Ivanivske. The Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled about 15 enemy attacks in the said area of the frontline over the last day,” the General Staff wrote.
In the Avdiivka and Marinka directions, the enemy conducted ineffective offensives in the areas of 3 settlements.
In the Shakhtarsk direction, the Russian troops did not conduct any offensive actions. However, they actively used UAVs to adjust artillery fire. In the Lyman sector, the enemy conducted unsuccessful offensives in the areas of 2 settlements.
In the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson directions, the enemy is building up defensive lines and positions in terms of fortifications. 14 localities came under fire.
In total, the invading Russian forces launched 3 missile strikes, 21 airstrikes, and over 35 attacks from multiple rocket launchers at the Ukrainian troops' positions and civilian infrastructure.
The danger of missile and air strikes remains high across Ukraine.
Russian troops tighten police regime in the Kherson region
“Since March 23 this year, the Russian Armed Forces have been conducting raids in the Kakhovka district to check personal phones of the local population for photo and video materials, as well as 'prohibited' content. During such checks, the occupying troops search the homes of locals. First of all, those who make phone calls to free Ukraine are subject to the check,” the report says.
On April 5, Ukrainian aviation launched 12 strikes on the invading Russian troops' military positions.
Missile and artillery units hit 2 control points, 2 munitions depots, 2 air defense positions and 4 Russian electronic warfare stations.
