Due to refugees from Ukraine, Poland's population has grown to 41.64 million, and in some Polish cities Ukrainians now make up one third of the total population
This is reported by the Information Portal of Poland with reference to a study by Unii Metropolii Polskich.
At the beginning of 2022, there were approximately two million Ukrainians living in Poland, but their number increased significantly due to the war. According to the data of the Polish border service, more than five million Ukrainians have crossed the Polish border since February 24. However, some of them moved to other countries.
According to the report of Unii Metropolii Polskich, there are approximately 3.4 million people in Poland, which is 8% of the country's population. Most often, Ukrainians choose large cities, where it is easier to find housing and work.
The largest share of Ukrainians in Rzeszów is 37% of the total number of city residents. In Gdansk - 34%, in Katowice - 33%. In Wrocław and Kraków, Ukrainians make up to 23% of the total population, in Lublin - 20%. The share of Ukrainians is somewhat smaller in Poznan, Szczecin, and Warsaw (16%, 15%, and 13%, respectively). Białystok, Łódź, and Bydgoszcz attract Ukrainians the least.
